Note: This data file, entered into the computer by Dan Martin over many days of mindless typing, does contain some typological errors. It is primarily intended to be used as a 'word-index' to the printed text, which must be consulted directly in every case. This file is free, and may be circulated freely.
This version does not contain 11th century monastic history like the Dharamsala version (in turn based on the Stein version) does. Part of the Stein version, pp. 84-92, has been appended to this file. However, the Stein version continues this PRC version's history starting at Stein's p. 65, line 15, through to the end. (The Stein version continues the history with Mu ne btsan po and subsequent emperors all the way up through the Time of Fragments and the visit of Atisha to Tibet. It can date no earlier than the 12th century, since it mentions Rgya 'Dul ba 'dzin pa Dbang phyug tshul khrims, whose dates are 1047-1131. But this should not be regarded as anything like a last word on the problem of dating).
Now the Dba'-bzhed has been published, and it is considerably different from any of the previously published Sba-bzhed's: Pasang Wangdu & Hildegard Diemberger, dBa' bzhed: The Royal Narrative Concerning the Bringing of the Buddha's Doctrine to Tibet, Verlag der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (Vienna 2000).
